Wayne's "Rebirth" May Not Be Released After All. Label Executives Don't Feel A "Rock" Album By A Rap Artist Will Sell.

"Universal big wigs are cautious of the rock album release considering the first single from the project, "Prom Queen", dropped in January but only reached No. 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lil Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant has allegedly been advised against letting the star press ahead with the project. A source says, "If Wayne doesn't brighten up, they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it's never going to be released." Examiner

Universal Also Had This To Say...

"Universal reportedly withdrew the decision to release the album because the executives do not foresee the success of a rock album being made by a rap artist. The label does not want to indulge in anything that will knock Wayne from being the top-selling singer." All Headline News

"Weezy has pushed back the release date of his rock-and-roll LP Rebirth from April 7 to May 19. The video for the album's first single, "Prom Queen," however, has been shot and should be released soon.
